[locked to dept of the enma] video; un: sannan
[Sannan is dressed fairly formally, in Western clothes with two swords at his hip, so he looks sort of... official. Which might make this come off as way more passive-aggressive or official than is entirely intended. I mean, it's intended to be passive-aggressive, considering he is how he is, but he'll say the following with an utterly pleasant, head-tipped, eyes somewhat closed smile.]
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Sannan Keisuke, a recent arrival. I have been given the privilege [the way he says privilege tho] of joining the ranks of the Department of the Enma. I'm quite unfamiliar with this sort of technology, so forgive me if I do something incorrectly.
[He shifts slightly.] To the point then. I, and several of my fellow new arrivals, have been experiencing difficulty acquiring information about certain aspects of our duties. It must also be noted that fellow Lost Souls who shall remain nameless, but who report to other factions, have been greeted with information about rules, regulations, leadership, and even dress codes.
One wonders, then, if there are any such requirements for our faction. This is merely a personal inquiry, as I have little desire to pin any one person to responsibility they do not wish to hold. Therefore, if someone with more tenure and experience could see fit to enumerate upon such things for those of us newly arrived, I will gladly facilitate dissemination of such information to fellow newcomers, and alleviate any burden upon those already far busier than myself.
Thank you for your time, and for your efforts which have preceded our arrival. We will all assuredly do our utmost to do honor to the tasks set before us. [Thinking back. To arrival. And sharks.] No matter how interesting they may be.
[And he parts that whole thing with a formal bow.]
[OOC: This is open to all Enma, feel free to threadjack and go wild on the answers!]

Just. Okay. Put some coffee down. You can handle this, Shiki. You're a Captain.
After a moment, she responds, in text; ]
Thank you, Officer Sannan, for your introduction. Due to unforeseen scheduling issues, New Lost Soul Orientation was dropped from the schedule. However, in the absence of an official orientation, I am making myself available to answer any questions you and others may have.
Again, your initiative is appreciated, and noted, Officer Sannan.
[ There. Smooth as silk. ]
IM CRYING
I'm merely used to leadership roles and familiar with the burden they place on those filling them. I'm sure no harm was intended in the orientation's unfortunate dismissal, and it was merely a result of tight schedules and due fatigue from the goings-on which preceded our arrival.
Thank you for taking the time to answer questions. I would like to know who our leadership is and if there is a dress code or any other usual expectations, though I'm certain others may answer those questions just as readily.

Hello. I am Azula, also a recent recruit to the Department of the Enma.
[She's all smiles and charm when she speaks, and there's no hint of the usual snide or sarcastic presentation in her voice.]
As our leader is regrettably indisposed, perhaps it would be beneficial for us to establish a more strict chain of command, to better ensure that these responsibilities are handled and delegated appropriately in the future? I would, of course, be more than happy to lend my assistance to anybody organizing such endeavors however I could.
no subject
I would also gladly lend my assistance for organizational matters and various responsibilities. I held rank in my previous... life. It's made me familiar with the intricacies of organizational difficulties, to say the least.

The current chain of command— from what I've gathered during my time here— often comes up during events or conferences initiated by the Enma himself. His appearances are rather brief but you'll find that his presence is very hard to miss.
Miss Azula, might I ask what you did before joining us in this place?
[She does take note of that username but doesn't hurt to ask... or does it...]

Um… hi! My name is Kanroji Mitsuri. It’s nice to meet you, Sannan-san! So far the people working in the department have been asked to do things like clean up, and maintain order, I guess? A lot of the time it was stopping fights or trying to keep peace.
We’ve had to be lifeguards for a beach event too… So I guess it’s usually helping people? [ it wasn’t much of an answer though… ]
To be honest, it took me some time to adjust to being here … so I’m not the most knowledgeable right now. Sorry about that! I’m glad that you asked these things on our behalf.
no subject
Please don't concern yourself with feeling like you aren't knowledgeable. I assure you, any information is helpful. I'm intimately familiar with maintaining order, so this particular information has already put me at ease. Thank you for your insight. It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Officer Kanroji.

My name is Nei Moh Han, and this initiative is appreciated. I was not aware that other groups had guidance issued already, so I was simply operating under the impression that it was the same sort of rather...concise instructions like had been given to me upon arrival.
I have experience operating in a military environment, which from the sound of things, is not terribly far off from what the Department is like? Though, for all I know, the culture could be completely different. [ It's what she was going off of, anyway. Last given orders were orders. If nothing new came down, then that's not her fault - and being new, if no one told her who to find them from, well, she can't be faulted if the place is a bit of a shitshow, can she...? ]

[He does smile, and it looks sincere.]
It is good to meet you, though. And, do forgive any offense here, but since I'm not familiar with your culture, should I call you by your full name...?

Keisuke-san, it's wonderful to have someone as detail-oriented as you join the department. You may call me Shinobu.

[He heard some things. They were not great things. He's vaguely glad he missed out on the cursed whatever.]
Thank you for the greeting, Shinobu. I hope I haven't stepped on any toes. I believed timeliness might help some of us become more quickly oriented and therefore more swiftly useful.

The video shows a smiling blond man, holding a folded fan in his hand. Some people may or may not see him around.]
Welcome! I'm Inspector Ichimonji Norimune, but simply Norimune is fine with me.
[Unless they have to show professionalism and follow protocol... Everyone knows his full name by now, so he does hope to get them used to using "Norimune" in general.]

Hey! I'm sorry the welcome hasn't been especially good for the new members of our faction. There was a major event that affected the city recently and I suppose a lot of things got lost in the fallout.
I can't say I am anyone with any authority or rank, but I welcome you anyway. I don't know how much of a dress code there is but as long as you look professional, I haven't heard of anyone getting in trouble.
As for duties, it is much like being a knight or-police work, if you are familiar with the term. Our job is to keep the peace between the factions and ensure the safety of the citizens, while improving relationships with the community as a whole.
no subject
I know it's quite a lot, particularly with newly appointed members being assigned and needing to be brought up to speed. But would you know if there was any sort of record or documentation of what happened? Video recordings, audio recordings, anything?
[Don't sound so eager, Jon. It's probably not what you think. But it never hurts to be thorough, especially now that a festival was put together so surely someone has shit together, right?]

Properly displaying and representing Enma seems to be of utmost importance, so learning how best to do so would be a wise thing to consider when introducing newcomers. Perhaps compiling a guide of some sort might be for the best?

Jaika Suni. There's a lot to take in right now, so I figured I'll start with something simple:
Humans seem to make up the majority of the "Lost Souls" but not all of them. How many of you aren't human? I can't be the only one, can I?

What are you if not human, if you don’t mind my asking~?

[Which means he's basically been flying blind for two months but listen. Listen it's fine.]
But It's nice to meet you, Sannan-san. I'm Fukuda Tamotsu. Enma-san doesn't really talk to us the way the other faction leaders do. He might still be recovering from being held hostage, and I'm sure Captain Shiki, who's the one we see more, is probably busy with all the work to get the city back in order after the blood rain.
no subject
I just had a feeling reaching out on behalf of my fellow arrivals would help more than hinder. You--and all the others--have my sincere apologies if answering us has added to your tasks in an excessive way. For my part, I'm fairly self-sufficient once I begin things.
It's good to meet you, Fukuda-san. I'm sure I'll settle in just fine without formal greetings.
[He sounds good-natured saying that, at least.] But in a situation where things were less than desirable, I wouldn't want to make them worse.

It looks like somebody’s already covered the whole ‘the entire office got nuked by curse energy last month’ thing so I’ll skip over that. I’m Bulleta. Welcome to the fresh meat and all that.
I’m just a field officer for now but that’ll all change here soon, mark my words~♪ I can’t [Read: don’t want to] help much with rules and regulations, but if any of you ever need something or someone hunted or tracked down, I’m your girl.

Come to think of it, a welcoming committee might be a good idea!
Combined with some small orientation, meeting and speaking with other members and receiving a brief training!
It must be hard for those members new to the city to find themselves here without support. It is a very different place, I imagine, from all other worlds out there!
Have you found yourself adjusting well?
rengoku the love of my life
I would be interested in assisting with welcoming and orientation, should it be deemed necessary and appropriate. I tend to overly inform myself, and it wouldn't be difficult for me to assemble materials or disseminate information.
I'm adjusting as well as can be expected. This place is far more technologically advanced than where I come from, so there is a bit to be learned.

Our duties vary based on current needs but can be summed up as 'when there is a problem, we fix it'. Instructions will be handed down when we have work to do. So far it has largely been keeping the other factions from fighting too much and cleaning up cursed artifacts.
When there is not an urgent task to complete, just look busy and you will be fine.
[It's not the most helpful answer, but it's an honest one?]
no subject
I see. That's reasonable enough work, and something I fortunately will be able to contribute to. I believe I'll stay quite busy learning the technology and ways of this place, at least for now. "Looking busy" is a little more difficult...
