Good morning, everyone. I hope you're well.

[read: he hopes that you're not too hungover and that none of you died out there last night.]

Despite the different clans to which we've been assigned, we all find ourselves in strange territory in Jigoku-cho. It may look close to what several of us recognize as Japan, but as you might've already discovered, familiarity does not guarantee similarity. The other day, I met a man who could have easily been from my world, perhaps even my continent or country-- only to discover he hailed from a completely different planet.

So, I'd like to begin gathering information. [He's no Sutoku, but this is important to all of them, and-- as he's been taught-- there are no shortcuts when it comes to investigation.] The more that we know about our fellow lost souls, the more we will have to work from as we learn more about this place and why we're here. We can start with something simple. If you would like, please share where, and when, you are from.

I'll start. I am from Tokyo's 25th Ward, in Japan, on Earth, in the year 2005.

Do you know, I've never even heard of such a city? I fear we are from two very different planes, my friend.

No matter. I am originally from Menzoberranzan in the Underdark, but now from the city of Luskan on the Sword Coast, although immediately prior to this I was visiting the fair city of Waterdeep. In Faerun, on Toril, but of course. And the year was 1492 by the Dale reckoning.

It seems as though many of us are. With the exception of yourself and yharaskrik. [And the Revacholians who prompted this post, but that's neither here nor there.] None of those names are familiar to me, save for Toril, which I've just learned of.

Does Jigoku-cho bear any similarities to anywhere you're familiar with back home? Or are you in completely new territory here?

Oh, not at all! Ah no, I suppose this is not quite true. The rough and tumble nature of this city reminds me a little of my own city, Luskan, and these factions of the Ships that control it—but the physical nature of the city is quite alien to me! All these lights that we are surrounded with! It is as if the city is made of faerie fire! And all these devices which buzz and chirp and make noise! Truly it is astounding!

Also I appreciate the easy availability of lavender soap.

I'm just glad it's astounding for you, rather than overwhelming. If you haven't experienced electricity or the amenities that come with it, I can imagine it would be a very big surprise. If you run into any trouble, I think the majority of us newcomers are familiar enough with technology-- though I think there are a few people who are learning with you, as well.

I don't use a lot of strong fragrances, so... I guess I take that for granted... you must be having a lot of fun at the beauty stores.
