Good morning, everyone. I hope you're well.

[read: he hopes that you're not too hungover and that none of you died out there last night.]

Despite the different clans to which we've been assigned, we all find ourselves in strange territory in Jigoku-cho. It may look close to what several of us recognize as Japan, but as you might've already discovered, familiarity does not guarantee similarity. The other day, I met a man who could have easily been from my world, perhaps even my continent or country-- only to discover he hailed from a completely different planet.

So, I'd like to begin gathering information.
[He's no Sutoku, but this is important to all of them, and-- as he's been taught-- there are no shortcuts when it comes to investigation.] The more that we know about our fellow lost souls, the more we will have to work from as we learn more about this place and why we're here. We can start with something simple. If you would like, please share where, and when, you are from.

I'll start. I am from Tokyo's 25th Ward, in Japan, on Earth, in the year 2005.

good morning!

i never had been to japan, as far as i remember, so i don't even have familiarity on my side. i wonder what was so familiar about the man you thought was from your world, but i'm sorry you were wrong in your assumption.

but, to answer your question, i'm at least from the same planet. however, it was 2014 in my time. i suppose i was in south america at the time, though i think i was just shipped off to wherever my employer thought i was needed too.

would it be completely out of the question to assume we aren't in some version of japan? i mean, this is some kind of mythical place in japan's lore, right?

as for me, i'm from midgar! bet you never heard of it. am i right?

his accent sounded european and he wasn't even from earth? am i reading this right? that's a little wild, if so. i can't even parse my mind around how other accents from other worlds would even be like. i kind of specialize in copying voices, so that would have thrown me off too!

but if you were looking for europeans in particular, that's actually where i was originally born.

as far as i go though... no. i definitely wasn't en route to anywhere. the last thing i remember was losing a fight inside a little house within south america. i guess because i lost the fight, though, it's entirely possible that i could have been en route to somewhere else while i was unconscious? that is, if i didn't actually die?

i suppose i'm not actually certain if i died in that fight or not, so sorry if that's entirely unhelpful.

[I mean, when the boss fight itself is actually dependent on the player's actions, there's no way LB can know.]

im from revachol, insulinde isola, and it's year 51 of the current century.

[ side note: he is very proud of knowing all of this and sharing it accurately! knowledge of basic reality is important to him. ]

so we're in not in japan (which I have never heard of but that's beside the point) but jigoku-cho resembles it? is it only surface level, like how the city looks, or more than that?

oh wow. it's all new to me! i'm a little out of my element here. what'd you grab, uehara?

well, midgard isn't mythical. not all of jigoku-cho is unfamiliar to me, i guess?

it's sort of like a pizza! there's an upper level and a lower level... i'm from the lower level. it can be pretty hard getting up there, but i handle it.

Southern California, late 2010s here!
I'm not too surprised about other places and times
More on the side of, being surprised at being here at all.
That's what I get for napping while on the clock I suppose! 🤷‍♂️

From my limited experience and from our Japanese customers at the cafe
No, the youkai with multiple eyes do not in fact walk the streets.
At least in broad daylight anyway 😏

wait, does that mean the youkai are not hell exclusive???
that sounds terrifying! how do you cope?

drink lots of coffee and offer them lots of coffee
It doesn't sound like a great idea at first, but some enjoy a nice caffeine rush and lots of sugar like most human folk

you're talking about kim! yeah he's my partner, best guy i know.

[ he doesn't know many guys but even if he did, kim would be best. ]

it's interesting that hell resembles such a specific city. interesting in the way that i don't know what to draw from it, but that doesn't make it less noteworthy! even if the structure isn't exact, it's not what i thought death would look like. though from what i understand we might not *actually* be dead, which is an entire can of worms on its own.

Oh c'mon
Santa Barbara has its ups and downs, but it's nice overall!

I kid. Santa Destroy is not on our map so sounds like an alternate situation here.

sounds like a good idea to me.
no one can turn down a good cup of coffee!
the youkai here seem to like alcohol a lot too. no surprise hell has rivers worth of booze to go around.

[you know, Monts has a good feeling about this Tequila Sunset person. They just seem pleasant so far.]

And as we all know, booze is the devil's drink, so it's super appropriate for this place.
Or so my abuela would call it
Though now that I think about it, your username... Kinda impressed that drink shows up where you're from.
I'm assuming anyway?
Never heard of those places you mentioned and I don't think we've had visitors from Revachol as you call it.

oh, i'm actually decent at french too, so that's even weirder for me to envision?

[But when her PMC was based in France, that was at least to be somewhat to be expected. Granted, that wasn't her original language either.]

i guess i don't know? it wouldn't surprise me if i was in hell, but this place is also unlike anything i've experienced so far. i didn't really put a whole lot of faith in religion, so i don't know what hell is supposed to be like?

but from the bit i remember, i suppose i was expecting a whole lot worse. like hellfire and brimstone? but first impressions aren't everything either.
