Good morning, everyone. I hope you're well.

[read: he hopes that you're not too hungover and that none of you died out there last night.]

Despite the different clans to which we've been assigned, we all find ourselves in strange territory in Jigoku-cho. It may look close to what several of us recognize as Japan, but as you might've already discovered, familiarity does not guarantee similarity. The other day, I met a man who could have easily been from my world, perhaps even my continent or country-- only to discover he hailed from a completely different planet.

So, I'd like to begin gathering information. [He's no Sutoku, but this is important to all of them, and-- as he's been taught-- there are no shortcuts when it comes to investigation.] The more that we know about our fellow lost souls, the more we will have to work from as we learn more about this place and why we're here. We can start with something simple. If you would like, please share where, and when, you are from.

I'll start. I am from Tokyo's 25th Ward, in Japan, on Earth, in the year 2005.

Well, "out of town" visitors are our main customer base.
My boss really wanted to have a cafe that catered to everyone and anyone so yeah.

Nothing personal, I don't know them, but all bosses are by definition wage hoarders that are overpaid next to the real laborers.

A witch, but like in a literal 'has magic' sense, not in the negative connotation way
I get paid pretty well compared to normal baristas, I can take a day off anytime I want as long as I let her and the co-owner know ahead of time
And you know, it's pretty cool to see people from other worlds come through the door
Basically, I'm just saying, she's a boss, but probably not in the scum category

More in the, "needs to be better at math" and "zany" categories.

[She does owe Iona like big time, so a part of Monts, as much as she gently roasts her boss, is very grateful to her for exposing her to a larger multiverse where Monts was clearly not the only oddity in the world.]

If anything, my standards for bosses are gonna be way too high after working for her.

You know, it's funny, I don't think I've met anyone who I'd say looks like a movie-style alien
Not yet anyway.
But yeah as far as I know though, the cafe is one of the few access points that other people from other worlds can enter through.
They can't stay though, they all eventually go back to where they were coming in from.

But it's only been a year since I found out that my world was a lot weirder than I thought

How's that smartphone working out for you by the way?
It's pretty fun trying to explain what you can do with it to people who don't have that kind of tech where they're from.

Definitely recommend getting a screen protector though.
And yeah, instant communication is cool isn't it?
text, audio, OR video if your heart wishes!
And a map so you can get to different addresses
Though it probably works differently here.
