Seba and Abe can be names, so I assume they're not the case. On searching, Sabe is from a language I'm unfamiliar with, but Base is a widely-used word in mathematics apparently...

That's true. The number system we use on a day to day basis is usually called decimal, but it can also be called base 10, because there are ten digits including zero.

Since you're from 1922, you probably don't know about computers, but they use something called binary, or base 2, so it only has two digits, 0 and 1. So while we count 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 in decimal, in binary it's 1, 10, 11, 100, 101, 110, and so on.

Oh! So not only solving the puzzle is a team effort, but making it as well! Maybe there could even be a physical component as well, if we had an engineer of some kind involved... Or structure it like a scavenger hunt where experts you can consult are suggested!
