I really, sincerely hope I'm not alone in thinking signing up for a dating app first thing in a strange new world is an incredibly stupid thing to do right?

I'm not exactly a tech expert, but generally how it works is these programs collect data on you based on how you use your phone. Photos, calls, contacts, that sort of thing.

For what purpose would one want that kind of information? It seems quite strange to me.

It can be sold, for one. Essentially mining personal data to sell to corporations so they can target you for marketing.

More insidiously, it can be sold to the authorities to make you an easier target for persecution.

I find that all very strange. Then again, such things do not exist where I'm from. There's a great deal here I've had difficulty wrapping my mind around.

Well, I suppose it's a good thing I am well behaved.

"If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" is unfortunately a deeply naive outlook. What you think may be "well behaved" can turn out to be used against you.

Is that so? I suppose I'll have to take your word for it since I have no personal experience with this kind of stuff.

Though I suppose it's too late with the app.

You can just delete it and stop using it.

I'm not sure how to delete things, but they already have access don't they? Anything I have on here they would already know, correct?

I still don't how to delete anything, though.

Find someone in your clan to do that, then. It's not really my responsibility beyond putting out a warning.

And for future reference, if you see something on your phone that you did not put there yourself, get rid of it immediately.
