I'm known as "Monts" and I'm an officer from the Tamamo Clan. Happy to make your acquaintance. With the new crop of Lost Souls that have found this corner of hell, I hope you've settled in with whatever faction you're assigned to and that you had a great welcome. 💖

Anyway, I want to get to know some of you a little bit more! It's nothing invasive, promise. What I'm proposing is...!





You see, I used to work at a magical cafe called "The Midnight Grind." Currently, I don't work as a barista but I'll have to polish up my skills again. These are a small sample of the drinks I would serve to customers from all different corners of all the different worlds!

Anyway, just look at this image and see which drink and description you're drawn to most, and let me know! It gives me a good idea of what to make for others in the future. Just have fun with it! Oh and maybe tell me about your favorite drink?? ☕🍵

Hm. I'll have to really mull over it. It does sound like a good option for someone like me.

[Monts and Oren did handle most of the business side of things, unconventional as the Grind was, so her skill with numbers and determining costs would benefit her more than she gives it credit for.]

It doesn't have a magical effect on the customer.
That was a big no-no from Oren.
But in terms of visual effects and texture, Iona was allowed to give it a touch!
The boba pearls have an electrical soundwave look and when you chew them, they're kind of fizzy.
Flavorwise, it's a tart blueberry and the tea portion is a bright peach and strawberry. It's not too overwhelming overall, but its strangely calming despite how vividly colored it is.

That sounds delicious. To tell you the truth, Miss Monts, but I'm also very good at making other drinks that aren't just alcohol. And projects like these are enough to pique my interest regarding bubble tea...

Is this Oren a wizard as well?

[nerine]

Great! Whenever you're available, I'll consult you about it.
I mentioned it to someone else here; although you can probably imitate the same effects with natural chemistry, magic really enhances the look and cuts down on the time.

Oren's a golem. You wouldn't know it looking at him though. Or maybe you would? He's human-shaped enough, but sometimes talking to him is like talking to an actual rock.

In that case, it'd be nothing my usual magic can't handle. And it does cut down on the length of time making it, which is one of the reasons why I let magic do all the preparing for me at Hemlock.

Golems are... rather uncommon in my realm. Can he still perform his own brand of magic?

Sounds perfect! It might not be the same, but it'll be a Shylock Bennet special boba instead, with your own magic touch and everything c:

And yeah, Oren's got his own magic, if I recall what Iona told me about him correctly.
Her grandmother, another witch, was the one who made him.
But I think he's always had sentience?
Other than that, I don't know too much about the whole golem-making side, but even though he's not the most expressive, he's probably the most nit-picky, clean freak I know.

Mm, I do like this business proposal of course. Perhaps we could talk about a collaboration in greater detail once you're serious about opening up your place and have established yourself for a while.

A nitpicky clean freak... He sounds adorable already. I'd love to meet the entire cafe crew one day, though wanting certain people to be in Hell with you has a lot of implications.

Definitely gonna put a pin on it. Maybe after this whole kidnap and rescue business is done and over with. Whoever gets the award money is gonna have to blow it on something so it might as well be special boba :P

His looks actually match up to yours now that I think about it
But you're a lot more cheerful and open to an extent.

Are you not interested in the bounty? Though I suppose that the rescue efforts are starting to look like an arms race of sorts... It'll be difficult to weigh in if you do not have the experience for such affairs.

From your description, he reminds me of a certain wizard from home. The strongest one in the world, in fact. He's a man of few words, but he'd rather let his terrifying magic do the talking.

Well, 1 billion yen...
Yeah, that's a fat bounty.
But it's as you said. Even if I was all for it, I'd have my delicate constitution to think about.

[Shylock knows what that means.]

Strongest wizard in the world?
What kind of power does he have to match up your world's standards?

[ that is true... she'll only suffer out there due to her incredibly high pain tolerance. the last thing the tamamo wants is to lose someone in their ranks. ]

He has unimaginably strong power from all the wizards he'd absorbed into his system. He'd once attempted to take over the world at one point and had almost tried to kill me, in fact. He could control the weather, part the seas -- it is no wonder that Oz is regarded as a demon lord.

That being said, he is very good with children.

That sounds... Wow. [Wizards, man...]

You're making me imagine a giant wizard who, by sheer size, just eats all the smaller and punier wizards

[Just popping them in his mouth like popcorn!]

But also, huh. You're right to be reminded of him
Oren's good with kids too... He's kind of like a babysitter at times with my boss considering how energetic she gets. A leap before she looks kind of a witch.

Your imagination never ceases to amaze me. I suppose Oz is quite tall and he can easily pick up the smaller wizards and put them upon his shoulders if asked...

[ he's a hot single dad okay ]

Quiet men like Oz and your Oren would know how to handle rambunctious people, don't they... Your cafe must be quite lively with all your friends running around.

[The similarities are extremely eerie. Oren towers over her and Iona, like a tall graceful tree of a man sculpted to have feminine features, but an imposing physicality.]

From time to time it was quiet and peaceful; you'll have days (or evenings, I took the late shifts) where you wouldn't be able to distinguish it from a normal cafe save for some of the customers who were clearly not from our side of the woods.

... They didn't really need an extra barista, but Iona was insistent. Said it was good for me. More than a year ago, I wouldn't have been able to tell a latte from a cappuccino or cared enough to know the difference.

[She's quite different now.]

And I wouldn't think I'd end up in hell, texting a wizard who has centuries over me.

Funny how life doesn't turn out the way you expected it to be, isn't it?
