I'm known as "Monts" and I'm an officer from the Tamamo Clan. Happy to make your acquaintance. With the new crop of Lost Souls that have found this corner of hell, I hope you've settled in with whatever faction you're assigned to and that you had a great welcome. 💖

Anyway, I want to get to know some of you a little bit more! It's nothing invasive, promise. What I'm proposing is...!





You see, I used to work at a magical cafe called "The Midnight Grind." Currently, I don't work as a barista but I'll have to polish up my skills again. These are a small sample of the drinks I would serve to customers from all different corners of all the different worlds!

Anyway, just look at this image and see which drink and description you're drawn to most, and let me know! It gives me a good idea of what to make for others in the future. Just have fun with it! Oh and maybe tell me about your favorite drink?? ☕🍵

Vaporwave boba!! I don't know what that is though.

Interesting... I would have chalked you up to a black coffee kind of guy.

But the boba are those pearls you see in the drink!
They're made of tapioca starch and are pleasantly chewy.
They usually aren't that color you see though.

Coffee is good, but I actually read everything on the picture! I'm not depressed!

I'm not a "funky little person," though, either. But I would want to try some boba.

I will, however, make that boba for you! It probably won't be the same as the way, my boss Iona made it. She was very proud of that drink after testing out a lot of variations that Oren disapproved of almost every time.

I barely know what funky would even mean in this context.

Oren should be grateful for what they get.
Can you make the drink that color?

I mean, Oren's over 500 years old and even though he's basically a rock, he's got a killer sense of taste. So I trust his judgment even if he acts annoying about it.
And yeah, pink-colored fruit tea isn't hard to procure and make.
It's the boba that's tricky.

We'll see about that. [ whatever the fck that means.

is barton feeling competitive with this person he doesn't know? does he erroneously think he has the superior tastebuds because he can eat beets out of a can and still enjoy it? maybe. ]

Why's the boba tricky?

She enchanted the boba so that it would shimmer with lights that look like electrical soundwaves.
We were able to pass it off as a neat chemistry trick when normal people ordered it or just a trick of the light.
And it would be fizzy and make your mouth tingle when you chewed on it.

Oh.
Well, I don't really care too much about the shimmer, even if that does sound neat to see.

But having that happen when you chew is also only possible with magic?

[nerine]

At the top of my head, there's probably a way to do that with normal techniques.
But according to her, she wanted to cut down on time and labor. That way I wouldn't hate her for having to do everything from scratch... That's a joke, but honestly, it would have been a pain if we did it a normal way.

Huh.
That time saved is probably better spent doing other things, yeah.

Where and when do you wanna do this?

I'll try to do this before anyone goes out to the Wastelands, whenever that may be. I did move into a new apartment, so I'll have more room to move about and make these drinks.

I'm trying to learn new stuff! [ though as cool as it is to learn of.. boba, it's really more learning a bit about monts. ]

Didn't realize you wouldn't have roommates, though.

Well, I decided to choose cozy over large amounts of space.
I'd have to either work and save more or get promoted again.
But getting another rank sounds like I'll have more responsibilities from Tenkohime and that's when it'll get trickier than usual.

A promotion in Tamamo sounds like it could get tricky, yeah. [ he doesn't articulate why, but it's just their general air...

not that enma is any better about that, he knows. ]

There's no positive connotation for the words "military barracks" for me.
What do you find good about them anyway that you can't find here?

The camaraderie. The discipline! People training towards a common goal, shifts of soldiers getting up at the same time, going to bed at the same time. I even miss doing inspections.

Ok, I think I can see where you're coming from at least.
But
You can have plenty of camaraderies and inspections around here
