They're classics. You can't really be a fan of literature and not enjoy them, ahaha.

Though you are far younger than what the professor is depicted to be like in the books.

I am what I am. To go into detail about why it is the way it is...that's too much of a waste of time for me.

Though I would have you refrain from talking about that man.

[ Right, they kind of killed each other... Well, Holmes came back. Pretty thick plot armor right there. That had to be something of a sore spot. If he was even Moriarty anyway. She hoped not, because if he was she doesn't want to deal with the implication it has on this place being fictional or real. ]

I did not plan to. It's a world for opportunities, right? Not one for us to linger on our pasts.

And that would be correct. Moving on is paramount. The world stretches wide like a spider's web. Strings must be pulled.

You know, with your name, saying stuff like that may get people worried.

[ Just trying to give friendly advice here. One of literature's most famous criminal mastermind talking about stretching his web and pulling strings may be somewhat worrisome. ]

What am I supposed to say? Besides, as much as I am what I am, there are also factors that make me act within certain strata. Namely, I am an arbiter of evil. An evil that consumes evil.

People may worry all they like. Perhaps its healthy for them. But I will assure them that I do not act in my own interests. I work for a purpose.

[Not entirely the truth, of course, but not entirely a lie, either.]

[ She really doesn't. She doesn't remember any of this in the Sherlock Holmes novels, so clearly she's missing a part of the story. But in the end, that's really none of her business. ]

Well, this would make sense, but...

The man known as James Moriarty while in his twenties would not have any knowledge of anyone named Sherlock Holmes, would he? And yet you clearly have a strong reaction to this name.

[ She's not a detective, but that hints something really weird is going on. Yet again, this world is full of weird things... ]

Its a complicated matter. A riddle for you. I never met the man in my life. But also, I met him not too long ago.

Both statements are true.

Well, that does imply you are not alive. At least not in the traditional sense of the word.

You have knowledge of your future and met your nemesis in spite of it being impossible at your age...

[ Fate/ lore is too complicated for anyone to just envision, but there's a more traditional trope she can imagine someone somewhere used in the Sherlock Holmes universe: ]

I will stand against fate. That is what I can do. As I am, I have my skills, and abilities in that regard to assist this place where needed. But I rolled the dice. I made my choice for myself to be what I am. No going back.

[ That was more or less the kind of reply she had expected. Cryptic and meaning nothing outside of proper context, which she apparently lacks. Maybe she should check if this world has Sherlock Holmes novels her world doesn't... Anyway, what is she even supposed to reply? ]

Now that I think about it... May I ask why you posted on this app?

[ Not the question she'd originally wanted to ask, but she was really curious. James Moriarty really didn't strike her as the romantic type. Yet again, he was an old man in the books... Maybe he was hunting for anyone who recognized his name. Or maybe he secretly wanted friends...! ]

I didn't. I was just trying to close the app and was clicking through some buttons.

[ Oh no, that's so adorable. She can just imagine the "clicking through some buttons" that accidentally led to setting up a profile on this very specific app and then post it online. Nevermind the exploit that is opening the app in the first place without a basic understanding of how the buttons work! So many perfectly coordinated coincidences...! That's quite possibly the cutest excuse ever.

Thankfully, she's keeping those thoughts to herself. ]

Ah, this technology can be confusing at first. It's similar to what we had home, but I know a lot of people never saw anything like it before.
