[locked to sutoku alliance] video, un: levirage
Hello, everyone!
[on the screen is a polite-looking person with messy green hair and purple eyes. they give a wave and smile with their whole face from behind their white-rimmed glasses.]
My name is Leviathan Astrape—Levi, if you'd all like—and let me be the first to welcome you to the Sutoku Alliance! What we do here is a little more up in the air than other factions, but I think that just gives us the freedom to be who we are. If you're not sure what to do next, just keep your ear to the ground and get to know as many people as possible! It really can't hurt in the long term, and it's always better to know more than to know less.
[they don't sound stiff as they're saying it, like they have some practice with public presentations like this, but anyone watching the tracking of their eyes could probably tell that they're reading off cue cards.]
And on that note, we have a few names to know. They'll spend some time introducing themselves, I'm sure, but please keep an eye out for Artemy, Kim, Xingqiu, Yuri, Ydris, Marie, and Cloud. [a pleasant smile as they get to the end of the list.] Please also look out for Emily Dyer, especially if you need any kind of medical assistance or you're interested in helping out there. And our lieutenants within the alliance are Matoba Seiji and, of course, the death-defying Sakamoto Ryouma.
[they gesture in front of them with an open palm towards the person behind the camera.]
You're coming in during exciting times, everyone. We just had a bit of a shake-up at the Tanabata festival. The daughter of an important financial magnate has been kidnapped by an enemy of Toraguma, and though we haven't heard any orders from the Daitengu quite yet, I think we all know how things like this play out.
[and bringing both their hands in front of them, at waist level, they smile and give a polite little bow.]
So please, take this time to get to know your fellow alliance members. [they look towards the camera, then glance at their lapel, where they have a pin with the kanji for sutoku. they laugh like they knew they were forgetting something, and look back up towards everyone else.] And don't forget to pick up your official faction pin from most places within our area if you're interested.
[they wave goodbye, then stand there for a couple seconds. without the feed cutting, they walk forward towards the camera and start talking much more casually.]
Was that okay? Getting those names right was harder than I expected, and I even cut out a lot of the last names. I don't know how you did it the first time.
Hehe, y' know, I wondered about that "death defyin'" part on paper, but hearin' ya say it like that makes it sound pretty heroic! And honestly, I'm pretty sure ya did way better with those names, now that I'm thinkin' about it...
[ anyone who isn't new here will recognise the voice that responds to them from behind the camera, especially with that accent. ryouma is pretty sure he botched a couple names last time, mostly for that same reason. he might be able to fake it and cover it when he's speaking his own language, but when it comes to foreign-sounding words all bets are off. ]
So that was perfect! I think ya gotta real knack for this sorta thing!
[ which... hmmm, take that with a grain of salt because this man long predated show business, but still!! judging by his tone, ryouma is very pleased since all his coaching and cheerleading and cue card holding paid off, in his opinion! sure the rest of the faction will agree... right? ]
((this is a mingle post! feel free to threadjack and get to know everyone within the faction. and thank you again to min for contributing ryouma here!))

[This is very silly, but Hu Tao's mischief was amusing. He didn't mind tossing a few bucks to see her plots through!]
Why? Any other requests?
no subject
Perhaps a small 3 mile race will do? Who wouldn't want to feel as if they're dying in a place like this?
no subject
[The hypocrite, but look, it's a get-together for newbies. We can't state our intents to torture them publicly,]
How about an ice cream-eating competition? Although that might claim only slightly less lives. Imagine the brain freeze.
no subject
[Not that she was serious but.....!]
Although, I can't deny that the idea of an ice cream eating contest does seem to appeal to the masses! Pay and you get to freeze...out of fun! They're livin the cream!
1/2 not here
no subject
That could be fun. Pay your way into entry and walk away with a fabulous prize... Which, of course, we will source from within the clan, so that the proceeds can go to our illustrious Sakamoto-san.
There is something here. I will see about incorporating this in the next city festival.
no subject
But if you incorporate it, please do let me know! Because I want to add my business's name to it!
no subject
Ahh, a sponsorship? Excellent thinking. I will certainly reserve that spot for your funeral services.
[Is that what they call 'Death by Chocolate'...?]
no subject
It would be an interesting cremation. It certainly would smell like the flavors they ate, no?
no subject
Wouldn't you be the expert on that? Ah, I see. This is your way of getting corpses to experiment on.
Not that I'll get in your way.
no subject
You'll be surprised at the amount I see here and back at home! Shall I explain them to you?
no subject
If this is a serious offer, I would be interested. Perhaps we could exchange knowledge.
[And…. parts. 🙂]
no subject
Depends on what kind of information you're willing to give me.
[Was he being serious?]
Private;
In order to kill ayakashi, you must be fairly familiar with their physiology. Or lack thereof, in many cases. For a student in the dressing and preparation of the dead, this should come in handy, no?
In addition to that, I do believe I offered to detail the rituals of exorcist funeral rites, at one point. Should you still be interested.
Private;
Although, I'm surprised that you want to learn how I bury the dead. Any reason why you wish to know?
Private;
That said. There are many ways in which your knowledge could be useful to me. For one, practices of burying the dead may have dire consequences towards how a malevolent spirit is formed. Prevention is the best method of eradication. For another, your business has the potential to be a very convenient vector by which our clan can both hide and obtain information.
But let's save that chat for the next time we cross paths, hm?
Private;
I certainly hope you weren't planning on doing that any time soon.
Private;
Of course, no one hopes to have need of that. But I don’t prefer to work based on hope, but preparedness.
Private;
But of course. Don't worry, I am prepared should something come up. I suppose I'll be hearing from you about dead bodies coming my way?
[Which she won't be too happy about.]
Re: Private;
I had some ideas that it might go both ways, actually. If it comes to that.
[You know, like he said. Sometimes you need supplies for sacrifices and spells and the like.]
Private;
I suppose I'll get my parlor ready. Although, I'm curious as to what you mean by that.
[...How long can she keep joking around? She wasn't sure.]
Private;
Usable parts fetch a high price, Hu Tao-san.
Simply keep that in mind as a business option.
Private;
So that's what you're after.
Again, I shouldn't be surprised given how far you're willing to go. I would much rather not go with that route even if it is for business.
Private;
Dealing with such things is high risk, for obvious reasons. There are usually more elegant solutions to those problems, but it could be that some day a spell requiring such materials becomes unavoidable.
But of course, such is your choice.
Private;
The last thing I want is to be disrespectful to the dead.
