I have been unfortunate enough to suffer through several tragedies.

I suppose as a way of making amends, I would like to learn how to carry out such rituals in order to preserve the memory of the dead. The living have much to learn from such rituals, after all.

I don't know if it will bring you much comfort but as someone who has spoken with the dead before? Most of the time, they do appreciate how much time and effort someone takes to get to know them!

That depends. I can talk to them but only if they appear as a spirit. But for the most part, I'm afraid I can't.

What a pity, I do wish I could as I want to see what dead man stories they might tell!

As said before, I have been involved in tragedies. Specifically war. My country has been in several conflicts and I am familiar with those who suffered and died as a result.
