Hello, everyone! I thought it'd be a good time to welcome in all our newest Alliance Lost Souls!

I'm Sakamoto Ryouma — but just Ryouma is fine! — and a lot of people around here know I'm a Lieutenant and a main point of contact for any business with the Alliance. If you need anything, you can always come to me, and I'll at least try and help you find what you're looking for.

That being said, you've got plenty of good people around here you can look to also! The rest of you aren't off the hook~!

My newest co-Lieutenant is Matoba Seiji. [ so feel free to bother him now too, haha! ] Emily Dyer will be acting as my second, and if you don't already know where the clinic is, you should familiarise yourself and help out a little!

You can also find your other seniors — Kim Kitsuragi, Yuri Leclerc, Xingqiu, Artemy Burakh, Cloud Strife, and Ydris — if you need anything!

You represent the Sutoku Alliance now, so keep that in mind! We don't really have much of a dress code or anything, but you should still get one of these pins, so people know what crew you're with.

[ he taps the pin on his jacket with the kanji for sutoku. aren't you relieved that the naval uniform isn't standard-issue attire? now everyone knows why he's rated four stars for COOLER HAT on EMBER. ]

We have 'em at Konoha and at plenty of other places, too, so just ask!

We're gonna have a get-together officially soon enough, but this is a good opportunity to get to know each other ahead of time! My advice to all of you is to learn as much as possible about this place and the people who live here, your fellow Lost Souls in the other factions included! Find something that interests you and dig right in! Always be paying attention because it's all in what you know.

I'm excited to say there will be a lotta interesting things going on around here soon enough, so I'll be counting on you all to do your best! No, we haven't, and for good reason. Despite the posting restrained to the Alliance, I have to remain cautious in regards to the clinic for a very simple reason. You see, professor, while you offer your assistance freely, there is something you must know. We treat everyone. [oh, how does she put this correctly...] That is to say, in complete disregard as to the clans and their relations, in addition to civilians.

The leaders have not said a word yet in regards to it, but I remain ever vigilant. The quieter we are, the longer we can continue our work.

[Mikotoba's quiet for a moment, then finally offers a faint, humorless huff.]

Pity. To be obligated to such secrecy for what we should be offering without question.

[He shakes his head.]

[the work being called noble...she'll tuck that sentiment away for a non-blood rainy day when it feels more thankless than noble. for now, it means she can count on him being willing to swear to put healing above clan loyalties, which is her true test for other physicians.]

Fortunately, we have more than enough of those who will spread the location through word of mouth, so we have no shortage of those willing to avail themselves. As well, the neighbors know that I won't tolerate fighting on the premises, and have been glad to know someone's nearby for them as well.

[all means all, and civilians make up the bulk of their patients, as it happens. and here they are - the front is modest, though there is a sign with a painted red cross to mark it out from the other businesses. inside, it feels modern, but there's a touch of old fashioned warmth in the furnishings, in the books for those waiting to read, and light comes in through the windows. it's certainly kept up to standard, lovingly so. behind the front desk, a woman with white hair types carefully, and looks up at them both.]

Chiyo, this is Professor Mikotoba - he's offered to join the staff, so please gather the papers needed to add him to the rota.

[there are others there, but she's heading this shift, and in the absence of an emergency, it suits it best for her to give him the tour, explaining what they can offer to patients - care for illness and injury, as well as some degree of specialized medicine. idk i didn't think this far in mentally mapping the place. please assume it's whatever's needed.]

[Compared to what he knows at home, well over a century behind? The modesty of the clinic is still a futuristic marvel to Mikotoba's eyes. Far cleaner, too: even St. Synners in London had vermin in its walls, but this place looks spotless. He nods as Emily speaks, taking all of it in quietly.

He takes a full breath in and out. The man is mesmerized, really. It'll be a true privilege to work here.]

Ah-- yes, of course. [Enough ogling the nice hospital. He bows to Chiyo in polite greeting,] Very nice to meet you, Chiyo-san. [and continues after Emily as she leads the way.]

Madam, if I were to ask you every single question I had about this place, it would take your whole shift. [He smiles sheepishly, eyes wrinkling in the corners.] It's a spectacular place you have. And you've spearheaded this all yourself?

[medicative]

[her answering smile is bright, cheery. the future was full and bright to medical advancement, and she can't say she complains about it at all.]

I did. It was a bit of work, getting myself up to speed in this city and putting together the establishment, but all worth it to be able to serve the community and in particular offer the Lost Souls some reassurance and care.

[Mikotoba hums thoughtfully. He's already heaped enough praise on her: better not seem like he's flattering when he does in fact mean it all.]

Then I'll have to humbly ask for your patience. I've been an educator for longer than I was ever a clinician... and most of my patients resided in the morgue.
